Avril Lavigne – Avril Lavigne Designs Personal Clothes

Avril Lavigne’s female designs reflect her ”personal style”, while the men’s clothes in her Abbey Dawn range are made for her brother.

Avril Lavigne designs her female clothes for herself, and her men’s clothes for her brother.

The ‘What the Hell’ singer has gained lots of confidence from the initial success of her Abbey Dawn clothing line – which was available exclusively at US retailer Kohl’s and is now being sold online – and she now sees it as “another way to be creative” outside of her music.

Avril said: “The inspiration for my line comes from my personal style. I’m designing the things I want. I’m not a huge fan of floral. I like stripes and plaid and polka dots and all-over prints of skulls.

“I’m designing it for me, really. I learned a lot about myself with designing. The stuff I was really excited about for Kohl’s did well.

“It gave me the confidence. You don’t have to be perfect. It’s about having fun. It’s a lot of fun. It’s another way to be creative. It’s all the same. It comes from me.”

Avril – who got the name of her brand from a nickname her father gave her as a young girl – is also launching a menswear line, including T-shirts, hoodies and caps in gray, black, white and red, which she says is inspired by her brother, Matt.

She added to WWD: “I think about my brother and I think about my band. It’s for the guy who’s into brands like Metal Mulisha – just edgier.”

Abbey Dawn’s website launches this Friday (17.12.10), with the brand to supply to shops including Trash and Vaudeville in New York and Blue Banana in the U.K, and the brand will work up toward a spring 2012 debut of a full juniors fashion line.

Avril Lavigne Goes Solo With Her Own Clothing Line

Avril Lavigne Goes Solo With Her Own Clothing Line
Tough little pop tart Avril Lavigne is going out on her own with her Kohl’s-produced junior’s clothing line, Abbey Dawn.

The singer will launch e-commerce—the line’s primary vehicle for sales—this Friday, followed by mini collections released throughout next year and a full-fledged debut for spring 2012. In addition to placing it primarily on the web, Lavigne is hoping to wholesale her collection to independent boutiques worldwide and, hopefully, the major department stores. Stores that have signed up include NYC’s Trash and Vaudeville and the U.K. chain Blue Bananas.

Abbey Dawn will continue in the same aesthetic direction it went at Kohl’s: not surprisingly, a medley of skull and animal prints in black and neon colors, with graphic phrases based on Lavigne’s album, “What the Hell?” On its own, however, Abbey Dawn will feature slightly more expensive fabrics and detailing, and will retail between $17.50 for t-shirts and $80 for sneakers. The line, which will be unveiled next month, will also include denim, accessories, handbags, swimwear and shoes with, you guessed it, plenty of skull motifs.

Avril Lavigne Talks New Fashion Initiative

She’s been hocking her wares at your local Kohl’s for a few years now, and Avril Lavigne is getting ready to break free from the department store chain.

Instead, the “Complicated” songstress is opting to sell directly to the consumer via the internet, giving her freer reign over business and design decisions.

Avril will also sell her clothing through various boutiques such as Trash and Vaudeville in NYC and the UK’s Blue Banana chain.

Lavigne told press, “[Kohl’s] was a great way to start my line and a great home for it for two-and-a-half years. The thing with me is…I really want my clothes to be available internationally.”

“I’m designing it for me, really. I learned a lot about myself with designing.…The stuff I was really excited about [for Kohl’s] did well. It gave me the confidence.…You don’t have to be perfect. It’s about having fun. It’s a lot of fun. It’s another way to be creative. It’s all the same. It comes from me.”

Goodbye Lullaby Release date!

| Filed under: Music, News, Photo | Posted by: FANNY

Avrillavigne.com posted a news about the Goodbye Lullaby album!!! The album will be released by RCA Records on 8 March 2011. First single is called “What the Hell”. Other song tracks are called “Stop Standing There”, “Smile”, “Push”,  “Wish You Were Here”, “Goodbye”, “4 Real”, “Everybody Hurts”, “Remember When” and “Darlin'”. Can’t wait to hear it!!

First Single, “What the Hell,” Set For Worldwide Debut on Annual New Year’s Eve Special

December 7, 2010 – Two years in the making, singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne’s fourth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby, will be released by RCA Records on March 8, 2011. Lavigne will debut the first single “What the Hell” on New Year’s Eve during “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve.”

Lavigne worked with longtime collaborators Deryck Whibley, Evan Taubenfeld and Butch Walker, as well as songwriter/producer Max Martin. Lavigne continues to share her personal experiences through her writing and music, and Goodbye Lullaby is a further evolution of this, propelled by a more raw and organic sound.

Among its upbeat tracks are “What the Hell,” an unabashed embrace of fun and freedom, and “Stop Standing There,” fueled by an early-‘50s girl-group feel. The album runs the gamut of emotions: Lavigne expresses her gratitude for special people in her life in the rocker “Smile,” explores the dynamics of a relationship in “Push,” shows her vulnerable side in “Wish You Were Here,” and finds the strength to close one chapter of her life and move on to the next in the title track “Goodbye.”

Outside the recording studio, Lavigne is a successful entrepreneur who continues to design and direct her lifestyle apparel brand, Abbey Dawn, which has expanded its worldwide footprint and will be shipping to 50+ countries beginning this month. Along with her popular fragrance Black Star, she recently introduced Forbidden Rose and is launching a third fragrance in 2011. This September, Lavigne’s past charitable work also inspired her to create The Avril Lavigne Foundation. The Foundation works in partnership with leading charitable organizations to design and deliver programs, raise awareness, and mobilize support for children and youth living with serious illnesses or disabilities.

Avril Lavigne has made an indelible mark on the music community, selling more than 30 million albums worldwide, earning eight Grammy nominations and seven Canadian Juno Awards. She burst onto the music scene in 2002 with the critically acclaimed Let Go, featuring the smash singles “Sk8r Boi” and “Complicated.” Her 2004 release, Under My Skin, debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, as did her third album, The Best Damn Thing, which produced the irrepressible #1 single “Girlfriend” and logged more than 130 million views on YouTube! Lavigne also wrote the song “Alice” for Tim Burton’s critically acclaimed Disney Film Alice in Wonderland. For more information, visit www.AvrilLavigne.com.
